Project - Mavtar

Mavtar in Gujarati means ‘parents’. We implemented Project Mavtar in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar district with the support of HFRI Ahmedabad. We identified 20 Old Age Homes across these districts and provided comprehensive health check-up including check-up for the visual acuity, hearing ability, mental health diseases and other generalized diseases. We also provided comprehensive laboratory assessment for diabetes, lipid profile, Liver Function Tests, Kidney Function Tests and complete hemograms.

Project Mavtar was an eye opener in many ways for the Niramay. We had an opportunity to understand various issues related to the elder mobility and health. One of the major area identified was with the mobility of disabled or orthopaedically disabled elders. Many old age homes have requested for the provision of wheelchairs for facilitating mobility of elders within premise of the old age homes.
