~700 elders living in Old Age Homes
Mavtar in Gujarati means ‘parents’. We implemented Project Mavtar in
Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar district with the support of HFRI Ahmedabad. We
identified 20 Old Age Homes across these districts and provided comprehensive
health check-up including check-up for the visual acuity, hearing ability, mental
health diseases and other generalized diseases. We also provided comprehensive
laboratory assessment for diabetes, lipid profile, Liver Function Tests, Kidney
Function Tests and complete hemograms.
Testing for hearing loss assessment
With the support of HFRI, we were able to identify many elders suffering form the
various illnesses. It was one of the pious moment for us to be of help to the elders
in need of help. Project Mavtar helped to further strengthen our resolve for
working for elders living in old age homes. Project Mavtar also helped us in
planning future interventions aimed at taking care of elders especially from the
marginalized groups.
